Medications to Avoid
Your doctor will want to know about any vitamins, herbal supplements, and medications you're taking, to be certain they don't contain ingredients that increase the risk of bleeding. There are some over-the-counter medications that people with ITP may need to avoid because they may have an impact on platelet counts. Some examples may include aspirin, ibuprofen (e.g. Motrin, Advil), and naproxen (e.g. Aleve).
Be sure to talk to your doctor before taking over-the-counter medications. 1, 2
