Newly Diagnosed and Stressed

If you have been newly diagnosed with ITP, you know there is no permanent cure (though remission is possible in some cases). That’s the bad news.

The good news is that many others are in your position and fighting the effects of ITP. The disease is rare, but the online channel is unique in its ability to provide informational resources and connect you with others who are newly diagnosed.

Here is a list of helpful sites for patients who have recently been diagnosed. They will allow you to learn more about ITP, ask questions, and connect with others in your local area or online.

  • Platelet Disorder Support Association (PDSA)
  • PDSA forums (This includes separate forums for adults, teens, and parents, as well as information on local group meetings, ITP and pregnancy, and other illnesses and disorders.)
  • ITP Foundation
  • ITP Kids – Children’s Hospital Boston
  • Carepages and CaringBridge provide free websites during healthcare treatment and recovery
  • Baxter’s ITP Resources (This includes patient education kits made especially for adults and children, in English and Spanish.)
